The Brief

Reception Furniture in Wantage, Oxfordshire – Purdicom 2021

Having furnished their reception area several years prior, Purdicom contacted Meridian to take the area to the next level following the growth of the business, and enhancing their brand within the Wi-Fi & Wireless Networking Solutions space.

With the location of the reception area within the premises, Purdicom were keen to see its use be beyond a reception desk and waiting area, and for staff to embrace collaborative working within the office, as well as make a lasting impression on any visitors that arrived.

The Solution

Already having surveyed the building before, we were able to quickly produce some concepts for the space with 2D layouts, and a mood board of finishes that would tie in with the natural features of the converted barn.

We created a modern feel to the area to compliment the technological nature of Purdicom’s business with a striking new reception desk to welcome visitors, as well as using Zoning systems to help break up the space, and provide storage where needed.

Acoustic pods and high chairs were incorporated in other areas to allow collaboration between different numbers of staff, as well as movable seating to allow them to be flexible with how they could come together.

Colours were chosen to tie in with the decoration, and period features of the building with pops of Purdicom’s brand colour orange, making it clear that you were entering their offices.

“We engaged with Meridian as we wanted to revamp our reception area to make it fun and vibrant for when people return to the office.

We contacted Meridian and put some simple ideas to them which they transformed into 2D mock-ups for us to look at, with relevant pictures and brochures of the furniture and design.

Not knowing what we could or could not do, Meridian guided us through it all and made suggestions that we encompassed in the final project, such as a feature wall, different shades of painting, rugs, and large hanging lights.

The result was amazing and was the reception area that we wanted, but our imagination did not stretch as far as their vision.

The finished look is smart, tranquil and stylish and very much in keeping with us a company.
